Different Types of Fishing Reel

Broadly speaking, we've got 7 different types here at Fishing Tackle and Bait.  Each have different uses for different applications and you'll need to consider where you'll be fishing, the sort of fish you hope to catch and the type of bait you'll be using to achieve that aim!  

Reels can be differentiated on a number of factors. Size, weight, Material Quality, and fishing type.  

• Baitrunner Reels - Baitrunner reels are designed for use with live bait or free-line fishing. They have a secondary drag system that allows fish to take the bait and swim away without feeling resistance. This can increase the chances of hooking the fish, as they are less likely to detect the angler.
• Big Pit Reels - Big Pit reels are designed for long-distance casting, and are often used for carp or surf fishing. They have a large spool capacity that allows for longer casts, and a powerful drag system that can handle big fish.

• Spinning Reels - Spinning reels, also known as fixed-spool reels, are the most common type of fishing reel. They are versatile and can be used in both freshwater and saltwater environments, with a wide range of fishing techniques. They have a fixed spool that helps prevent line tangles, and a smooth drag system that can handle a variety of fish species.
• Rod and Reel Combo's - Rod and reel combos are pre-matched sets of a fishing rod and reel, designed to work together for optimal performance. They are often an affordable and convenient option for beginner anglers or those who want a simple and easy setup.
